          Installation of Gnumeric

          Install Gnumeric by running the
          following commands:

sed -e "s@zz-application/zz-winassoc-xls;@@" \
    -i gnumeric.desktop.in &&
./configure --prefix=/usr  &&
make

          This package must be installed before the test suite is run.

          Now, as the root user:

make install

          If you wish to test the results, first disable three tests which
          fail:

sed \
  -e '/\tt6500-strings.*/d;/\tt6506-cell-comments.*/d;/\tt6509-validation.*/d' \
  -i test/Makefile

          then issue make
          check. Tests must be run from an active X session,
          and DConf-0.24.0 should be
          installed to prevent some failures.
